Thursday Seeds: Animals that talk

Photo motivations. Two sacked out cats.

Snacks woke everyone up, now.

Animals that talk.  The ones that insist on snuggling. The ones that insist on being right up next to you at night or on the writing table when you write. And lord help you if you have two cats like that and they are fighting over the real estate that is your writing table. It doesn’t happen that often because they all get purged then.

I go upstairs. One cat is in the bathroom having water from the plastic bowl set up for her in there. The other is taking the steps two and six at a time with me as I go run for a book that’s on the bedroom bookcase.

There’s a misjudgment of speed and instead of colliding into the drinking cat, there are back feet skidding on the wooden floor boards that freaks them both out.

The fight begins from there. “Who do you think you are scaring me like that, kid?” I’m sure that’s what Tuna said in her kittykat growl and proceeding sneer.

Then the stairs got it as she chased the “hot shot” down the stairs still lecturing about what you don’t feckin’ do around here.  I hope she schools him on papers too. That “hot shot” kid does not respect papers. It’s a problem. He’s not a dog, thank GOD! But, it’s gonna have to be dealt with. This disrespect for paper.

On other notes, the deer that frequent the backyard are also talking. Late last summer, I met Agnes. I think I’ve talked about her before. She has a family. There are three males from her clan. They talk up a storm.  They don’t sound like Mr. Ed, but they also like the celery juice scraps and don’t mind outright asking for them and then ducking behind a bush or tree trunk to obstruct my view of them, or so they think.

“Is she gone yet?”

“No.”

“How about now?”

“No, dude, she’s still snapping shots at you.”

All kidding aside, when animals really need help, they will come up to you and hope you can figure it out.

The dolphin that won’t leave you alone while you shoot the reef life really does need help for his buddy stuck in the net. How many of those videos have you watched on social media? Me? Every one of them. I’m looking for clues. And really, that’s all I’ll say about that.

So if your animals are around, are you listening to them? They can usually tell you about their state of affairs. Tuna did finally forgive me for no longer being an only child, but it took more than a month. And this new kid loves to walk in the dirt of the plants around here when he’s not getting his way. Luckily, he doesn’t like water. Spritz helps the plants and deters the cat who thinks he knows everything.

Cat stories are cliche.Forgive me, for these two are my babies. (Kid grew up and is gone.) Here’s a couple of those dear deers too.

And if you care, there is a mind map that got me this far.
