Another book on the to read list, Stuffed…looking for solutions

Hey there!  I was just catching up on a few blogs I follow and found another interesting book regarding food issues in our country.  It was recommended and actually there was a giveaway for the book that several days stale. While it might be too late for the giveaway, the book could be worth a read anyway.  I think Food, Inc. did a nice job helping educate us that there are serious issues in our food supply chain that need to be addressed.  The one liner suggestions on solutions at the end of the movie, however don’t really cut it on solution.

This is a complicated problem that won’t be quickly fixed with a buzz saw or a tax in my opinion. We can’t just cookie cut (no pun intended) past solutions to the tobacco industry and expect it all to be better.  It’s going to take a lot of people doing a lot of creative thinking.  There should be books upon books and blogs upon blogs that help us all explore new directions for solutions.  I think I’ll start with this one.

If you are interested, here’s a couple of links.  First to the Left Over Queen’s blog post who thought enough of the book to hold a giveaway and second on how to purchase the book, STUFFED: An Insider’s Look at Who’s (Really) Making America Fat.

What do you think? Have you read the book?  Let us know!

Happy Washing

Due to blog technical difficulties, The Left Over Queen was not able to leave this comment herself. (We’ve since fixed those problems.)

Here is what she wrote: “Thank you for posting about the book and the giveaway! I hope your post will further facilitate this important discussion in the blogosphere! The giveaway is through the month of October. We will be giving away a total of 8 books, one per week!”

So it seems we are NOT late on this book giveaway folks! I hope you’ll go to your own blogs and post about the book too! If you do that, and you saw it here first, come drop us a line to let us know!

    Happy Washing!
