Piedmont Park Green Market

I wasn’t born in Atlanta…but I was months old upon moving here. I grew up for the first 6 years of life in my grandmother’s house in the Morningside area. That was before it became the posh fixed up vintage neighborhood that it is now. In my time there, I spent many a day playing at Piedmont Park. I took swimming lessons at the old pool and bathhouse. (It’s getting renovation, yippee!) I saw my first tadpole from the lake there. Because of those things, it will always have a special place in my heart. I’m excited about the new changes going on. This Green Market is an example of one. If you live outside the Atlanta perimeter, you really should consider driving on in to the city for a Saturday summer look-see! Who knows, you might find something you just MUST have.

My objective this past Saturday was to scope the Green Market to see if I would be interested in setting up a booth and selling my soap there. I could use the exposure to jump start my all natural handmade soap line.

There were traditional farmer’s market type booths. Some made food for you on the spot, while others had pastries, cheese, handmade breads, etc. There were places that sold organic veggies, some potted herbs, plants, and fresh flowers. There was soothing yet fun music.

Oh and did I mention the food demo? YUMMY! As Chef Asata served up the goodies, she spoke very matter of fact about herbs and spices that make food taste wonderful, how to limit your grocery store bill but eat healthy too, and how simple it really is to make an effort to eat healthy everyday. The vibe from both her and her assistants were welcoming enough even for the shyest of visitors. I didn’t plan on tasting the food but boy am I glad I did! I took recipe flyers home and tried one of the salads just this week! à this one

I’ll be scoping on Chef Asata’s Life Chef blog for more recipes to be sure! Did you know she teaches classes? Even Kaiser Permanente’s “Doc Broc” had a plate of these yummies! Hey thanks for sponsoring this Kaiser!
