Colorado's new bill = baby out with bathwater…
I could write my version of this but instead, I’ll be brief. On Monday, Colorado is about to pass a bill that has all of the good intentions of providing safe cosmetic products to its citizens yet falls short on thought out reasoning of specifics. Broad brush strokes only create a nightmare of litigation for small businesses everywhere that don’t have time, money or resources to redefine everytime, every law suit. Our economy is a wreck gang. Let’s not punish the few sectors of American business that are still hiring!! I’d love to see state and federal folks actually approach citizens and small business owners for their opinion before blazing a trail…

How To Clip Rosemary
How do you clip rosemary in your yard? The first question I’d ask, is how old is your rosemary bush? If your rosemary bushes have been around as long as mine have, the method of clipping rosemary can be a bit more involved. I live in gardening zone 8 which means that it’s warm enough here in the Atlanta area for rosemary to over winter without dying. That’s not to say that is doesn’t have its set backs from time to time, but over all my rosemary bushes thrive. Thriving rosemary bushes means they grow fast and must be clipped often. Aromatherapy, not just hype
What is Aromatherapy? – Aromatherapy is the practice of using volatile plant oils, including essential oils, for psychological and physical well being. It is the main reason why the majority of Dr. Flower’s handmade soaps are made with herbs, infusions, and essential oils. One could go as for as to say they can transform your bathroom into a Home Spa for a whole lot less money than to go find a spa. In these times where being frugal is more necessary, I invite you to consider this in your holiday shopping. Don’t…

Essential oils and the environment
I came across an interesting article today as I surfed through my normal blog update feeds. This one caught my attention because it has to do with essential oils which are what I use in my soaps almost exclusively. I have/will be making a few exceptions here and there and they will be CLEARLY marked as such. If you look at my products page, I have a list of products coming soon. Georgia Peach is one that will not be from essential oils. (soap bars for sale on site soon! made, just curing…) It has been my observation that most fruit EO (essential oils) do not hold well in soap. Lemon and…

Litsea…know what it is?
Also called May Chang Origin: China, Indonesia Aromatic Description: Sharp, with a complex lemony aroma. It has been compared to lemon grass and lemon verbena. It is considered sweeter and softer than lemon grass and a possible fragrance alternative to the costly lemon verbena, though it should be used as an alternative in terms of therapeutic potential. Litsea is a deciduous shrub growing to 7m. The flowers, leaves and fruit walls are used for extracting an essential oil rich in citral which is used as a perfume and in medicine. The fruit core contains 61.8% of oil which is used for industry. The wood is used for general furniture and…
