White beaches and natural art!
This was a jelly fish that was on the beach of Destin, Florida for 10 minutes tops before the surf picked it back up and took it back to the sea. I wonder if the jelly made it? Would it sit on the beach for a time and then gasp for “air” as it was swooshed back into the sea? Nature…it’s just amazing! Can you imagine a homemade soap that had the marks of art like this? It’s in my head! Happy Washing! ~Regina

Indie Business Blog: Stop the FDA Globalization Act of 2008!!
This sort of legislation is parallel to that of small farmers in my opinion. Do we sit idly by and allow it? Nope! Diversity, local, and sustainable choices on food AND beauty products is what I’d like to see as a consumer much less a small business owner. Let me know how I can help. ~Regina Posted by: Regina June 24, 2008 at 01:32 PM Sign the petition by clicking the link and commenting…help us get the revisions that are good for consumers AND small business owners. SLS beware! – Sodium Lauryl Sulfate
The internet is a marvelous place full of information. Duh! You are going to find two if not more sides to most subjects discussed, written about, posted, etc. Something was brought to my attention via a poll I took from another handmade soaper’s blog. I’m networked with her via twitter. Her poll was about Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) and whether her customers avoid this ingredient in their soap choice. I sent my answer and behold the results of the poll were a bit astonishing. At the time I took the poll, 69% did not know what Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is. !!! How can that be? Well…it can…not everyone lives and breathes…

Pickensplan sure breezes thru nice!
From watching the introduction to this plan on their site, THIS is the kind of talk that I’m really glad to hear! Green Energy. No, it won’t be easy, but YES it is doable and will get us through for a bit until we get our wits about us. Why do we need so much oil? Do we really? Those answers aren’t listed. But a practical stop gap measure could help us focus on the other important questions. We are a nation of smart people. We can come up with good, thought through answers to our problems. We can create solid ideas on oil dependence and at the same time, help…

Essential oils and the environment
I came across an interesting article today as I surfed through my normal blog update feeds. This one caught my attention because it has to do with essential oils which are what I use in my soaps almost exclusively. I have/will be making a few exceptions here and there and they will be CLEARLY marked as such. If you look at my products page, I have a list of products coming soon. Georgia Peach is one that will not be from essential oils. (soap bars for sale on site soon! made, just curing…) It has been my observation that most fruit EO (essential oils) do not hold well in soap. Lemon and…

Piedmont Park Green Market
I wasn’t born in Atlanta…but I was months old upon moving here. I grew up for the first 6 years of life in my grandmother’s house in the Morningside area. That was before it became the posh fixed up vintage neighborhood that it is now. In my time there, I spent many a day playing at Piedmont Park. I took swimming lessons at the old pool and bathhouse. (It’s getting renovation, yippee!) I saw my first tadpole from the lake there. Because of those things, it will always have a special place in my heart. I’m excited about the new changes going on. This Green Market is an example of…
