Life Chef – Food for life is much like soap for life
I say this as a golden rule above all others when cooking: use your instincts. Follow that with your senses: sight, smell, taste, texture. And finalize your decision through the filter of common sense. That applies to every dish, every time. But back to the parsley...

Entering a contest:Soap is Life, Art, and Science
Soap is Life, Art, and Science! I’ve made soap for a few years now (2001) but it hasn’t been since I’ve started Dr. Flower’s Essentials, Inc. that I’ve found some interesting, informative, and all around neat people in this independent industry. Marr Williams is among the top of that list with her blog (laugh with me now) Smellychicksonline.com. One of Marr’s features on her blog, besides informative information about soap making and small business, is Soap Porn! It’s a creative way to have shout outs for artistic, interesting, not your average soap bars. If you look at her site today, there’s a new one that I love, button soap bar…

Do you treat your soap bar right?
How many folks open a brand new bar of soap, use it for their shower, and then promptly leave the wet bar on a flat counter? Do you know what that does to your soap bar??? Ouchie!….or better yet SOGGY! or Gooey! As a soap bar gets smaller, it gets even more susceptible to careless handling. How’s your soap dish? Do you have one? Does it drain the water away from the bar? If it doesn’t then your soap bar is at risk for the Goo factor and won’t last as long. If the soap bar is allowed to dry between uses, it will last longer! Soap dishes come in…

Too Cute! – Make Tea, Not War!
This just made me laugh out loud! I happened upon a store that carries another neat gadget called wirepod and found this one! I’m a tea fanatic! It can’t be from a bag either, bulk tea is just better! Anyhoo…stick ‘um up! Let’s make tea, not war! Wirepod’s website said that Heliotrope – in Decatur, Ga carries this device. It’s not on their website 😮 Does that mean they are sold out? Okay! Enough shoppin’ back to soaping! ~Happy Washing Regina

Stella Soaps! – Jewelweed soap’s meow!
Our yard is yet to be exterminated of poison ivy. Why? I’d rather treat it with organic means. I’ve done plenty of reading on how high percentage vinegar does the trick. I’ve tried it! Works great in the full sun, otherwise you don’t hurt the plant AND expose yourself further to it. That’s a problem for folks like me who have been allergic to it since a kid. My husband did a bunch of work on it until now he’s able to get it too. I’m currently looking into a “rent-a-goat” program. Under rules of my subdivision, livestock are not allowed. Think I could get them to approve a couple…

Dialog on Facebook with Shopnear about buying locally…
Twitter has been a wonderful networking tool for me. If you want to see what I’m up to, click here. Another user and myself took our connection on twitter to facebook. “Shopnear” has a discussion list on an important topic: Why buy local? (Click here to cut to the chase and see it) She asked the question and this was my first answer: -less $ spent on shipping -more suited to your own nature…ie water that you drink would be similar water that is used on your food. much like hard or soft water. -it just flat tastes better! -if you eat on seasons, you are less likely to eat…

White beaches and natural art!
This was a jelly fish that was on the beach of Destin, Florida for 10 minutes tops before the surf picked it back up and took it back to the sea. I wonder if the jelly made it? Would it sit on the beach for a time and then gasp for “air” as it was swooshed back into the sea? Nature…it’s just amazing! Can you imagine a homemade soap that had the marks of art like this? It’s in my head! Happy Washing! ~Regina

Indie Business Blog: Stop the FDA Globalization Act of 2008!!
This sort of legislation is parallel to that of small farmers in my opinion. Do we sit idly by and allow it? Nope! Diversity, local, and sustainable choices on food AND beauty products is what I’d like to see as a consumer much less a small business owner. Let me know how I can help. ~Regina Posted by: Regina June 24, 2008 at 01:32 PM Sign the petition by clicking the link and commenting…help us get the revisions that are good for consumers AND small business owners.
