Organic Lawn Care

We all want beautiful yards to help our homes look nice. How do we do that in a “green” manner? I am still in the midst of determining the best plan of action. I’ve used several yard services that are all too willing to spray insecticides, poisons, and fertilizers on the lawn. We all know those are bad things for our environment. Want to know why?
Pesticides can cause health problems, such as birth defects, nerve damage, cancer, and other effects that might occur over a long period of time. These effects depend on how toxic the pesticide is and how much of it is consumed. When these lovelys are sprayed on our lawns, they eventually end up in our water table. That’s the largest means of exposure…then we wonder why everyone we know has run up against Cancer… Tada! We need to change our ways.
I’m appealing to readers here to step up and share your experiences with eco-friendly lawn care. Do they exist in Georgia? If not, I’ll be doing my own lawn care with the help of my good vendor, Gardens Alive. They have many solutions for a fescue type turf. This works wonders for the back part of my yard but my Bermuda front yard could get a little bit confused.
Weed-AsideTM Hebicidal Soap was my purchase from Gardens Alive today. I have weeds that are growing even in these colder than usual temps for Georgia. I have been using Gardens Alive products in the spring time only. Paying for Shipping on those products can get pricey. This will be my first year really concentrating on keeping the yard looking nice in an organic manner. We all have to start somewhere. We all aren’t born Eco friendly…we grow there by moving one step at a time. Share your thoughts please.
