Do we know why she did it? No.

The post below is what I wrote after reading about the marine biologist on site that was unable to “save” this whale from breach. Evidently, she took a lot of criticism from folks not understanding why she couldn’t save this amazing soul washed up on the beach. If she could have, I know that she would have. You don’t get in that line of study without love of the sea marine life.

So what happened and why? One of her educated opinions was that it was an end of life move to beach. So to put this mindset into perspective, if we equate it to humans in the Inuit race, they have been known nearing end of life, to get into their kayak and leave the tribe. They go to the waters and they never return. What if that is the case for the whales? They live in water. They go to the land, and they never return. In this case, no sharks were able to nibble on this body. The sun, salt, and sand will bleach it dry if there is no disturbance. But the disturbance is massive emotionally, spiritually, and cosmically.

If humans can take this body, effectively donated to science, and understand better about what is happening, then all is not lost even on a physical realm. She becomes an ambassador of her species. There are some beachings that take the entire pod or group. This is one individual. That’s one difference, species is another, behavior another. Not to take away from the mourning of loss, this creature is gone. Her death documented a million different ways by us not fully knowing the context. We just hurt. There are things we can do that don’t cause additional pain. Go with love sweet whale that teaches us! We do what we can.
