How did your week go? LIVE SHOWS !!!
In between projects, I’ve been seeing a few shows… What a privilege to get out of the house and be with people. I’m still trying to navigate Mask rules. When you aren’t with a drink in your hand, wear the thing! But I shook hands and threatened to hug folks this week…
Darlin’ Cory Songs at Colony Square September 7, 2021
Opening Night: Darlin’ Cory September 8, 2021 Alliance Theatre
This production was absolutely spectacular! The songs are catchy. I sure hope that more of them will be released. These singers are amazing! The reverb in the theatre walls translates as one voice. The gorgeous beige swirling balcony art was a perfect place for the vibrations to sound. You could put your hand on them and feel the beautiful energy of hope at each song’s chorus. Reading the show program, there were “the making of” notes from the artist/creators that only add more to the context. My favorite characters, outside of the lead, were the Crow sisters. They did the right thing even when it wasn’t popular. The mystic artistry spoke to me. Wouldn’t it be neat if there was a sequel where we learn more of their back story? Just throwing that out there! I’ve been known to bust in to the middle of sound checks before the show. Being nice and restrained was tough! Ha!
Eddie’s Attic: Caleb Lee Hutchinson September 10, 2021
I saw folks I haven’t seen a long while, met new friends and even some of Caleb’s rowdy type cousins! What a crew! The audience vibe is a part of the missing link as we gather again…it’s not just great music and our response to it, it’s also the energy of the people that gather. Why are they together? May we kick this pandemic to the curb and evolve into communities that value these missed, rarely even discussed things. Artists will talk about this missing thing. Fans talk about it too and yet, words don’t give it full description.
I loved the new songs that are up and coming for this new album! Can’t wait for the release!
