Do what you say you are going to do…
Business Rule #1 – Scratch that! Life Rule #2 – Do what you say you are going to do!
Sometimes we forget to do this. Especially if the “thing” we say we are going to do is not written down.
My example in this post was written down earlier this year. The 2nd Day of this year to be precise!
I had a blog post here on Dr. Flower about Martini glasses. Several folks dropped in to comment their thoughts. (psstt…I LOVE it when you guys do that!) Anne-Marie dropped in to say I’d won the random comment contest! yippe I said… and a martini glass for you on your birthday! (You can read the exact wording here.) To tell you the truth, I’d forgotten all about it until another reader happened to click on that link. I quickly realized I might be too late! After checking with Facebook to find a birthday date, I found I was only a couple of weeks late. I immediately went to shop for an eclectic set of glasses.
Now in the comment, she hinted at a specific glass. Nope, that’s not what she got! 😉 She got handmade. The Etsy Artist, aressa that made these glasses had SEVERAL beautiful flower painted glasses
to choose from. I had a heck of a time picking one! About the time I picked one out, I came upon the cupcake ones.
You could hear the wheels turning in my head…
Do I pick these cute purple flower martini glasses that will remind her of Dr. Flower? _or_ Do I get the cupcake martini glasses that I know she’d really like better?
Solution solved! I choose the cupcake glasses for her! You can see her snapshot of one, here. ( I think she liked them 😉 )
I then ordered the cute flower ones for me! Will I think of Anne-Marie when I use them? You bet! Will she think of me when she uses hers? You bet!
I didn’t sign up for the buy only handmade campaign when it was popular last fall. I thought about it. But I decided that I’d hold off on signing the pledge and just try the idea of buying only homemade. I found it very easy for the girls at the gift list that I needed to buy for, not so much with the guys. I hope that the homemade trend will continue to spread and I thank Etsy and Artfire both for spreading the handmade message! Perhaps I’ll be signing that buy only handmade pledge after all!
Happy Washing!
