Sweetwater 420 Festival, an Earth day celebration

Earth Day…Posh! EVERYDAY is EARTH DAY folks! Jump on the green bus everyone let’s recycle on one day in April! Can you sense the sarcasm?  That is how I view some of the Earth Day proceedings that I hear about over the internet via social media.  It just seems hollow to me.  That was my thinking before I got on the bus (literally) and connected with committed environmental folk at the Sweetwater 420 Festival held this past weekend in Chandler Park. If you live in Atlanta, go ahead and put 420 fest on your calender as a “must go” for next year! I took my daughter to the festival and…

Guard against Esophageal Cancer, Mind Tea & Coffee Temps

There is nothing like a newly brewed pot of herbal tea.  My favorite way to brew tea is using bulk tea in a brew basket. That way, I can blend tea from the garden with other teas I might come across in shopping with ease. The temperature of the water during brewing, makes a huge difference with the flavor of the tea.  You can make the best cup of tea if you know the best brewing temperature for the leaves you are using. I found on this site the following: As a general guideline, green teas taste best when brewed at temperatures between 140°F – 185°F. The grade of the…

    Happy Easter!

Just a little note that orders received this weekend will be shipped next week as we will be celebrating Easter. I’d like to share a special song that comes from a book called Troubling a Star by Madeline L’Engle All things by immortal power, Near or far, Hiddenly To each other linked are, That thou canst not stir a flower Without troubling a star. That thou canst not stir a flower Without troubling a star. Happy Washing! ~Regina

5 Neat Things about Georgia Spring Fling

Yesterday, I posted about my daughter being with me on Friday and the fun time we had here. Today, I want to go through 5 neat things about Georgia Spring Fling. The Spring blooms in Georgia! – Sometimes we get busy with our lives and we forget to just enjoy the blooms on the trees! My  iPhone mapped me through the old part of Conyers instead of the short right off the highway route. I found that shorter route on my way home. If it hadn’t gone the long way, I would have missed the beauty of the blooming dogwoods and azaleas that the city of trees, Atlanta, is known…

What did you do this weekend? I went to Ga Spring Fling!

I went to the Georgia Spring Fling this weekend.  If you work in the soap industry, perhaps you know what that is. For those of you that don’t, I’ll explain! It’s a meeting of soap and candle minded folk that get together to celebrate and share their love of the craft.  Many vendors come to add to the creativity and sell supplies and tools that help also. It’s a conference where collaboration is easy to be fostered in my humble opinion. I found out about this conference a few weeks before the first one commenced last year(2008). It was posted on the Handcrafted Soapmaker’s Guild website and I remember thinking…
