never mind the gas price – can you get it?
It’s been a bazaar few weeks since Ike left Texas here in Georgia. Energy crisis here we come! Most folks are struggling to find a place to buy gas, never mind the prices. I heard a snippet on the tv that there was a station selling gas at the lovely price of $8.00 per gallon. I hope that folks swooped over that station owner with the threat of gouging fraud! Anyhoo…Here’s to a better week this week regarding energy! Here’s a little link from 11alive news that might help you decide if the trip you are taking is worth it and a list of locations near you that ARE selling…

Hoschton Fall Festival – Guiness record
5,441 scarecrows certified with Guiness book of world records! I went to the festival just to see these artful images. All the scarecrows had to be handmade and let me tell you, the creative was definitely abound. In addition to the festivities, there was a long wall of documented scarecrow pictures with notes on who the “artists” were. Awards were given for the most original of the LARGE bunch. I think my favorite ones were the wizard of oz, the choir at the baptist church and the two power men up the telephone pole! It was a really fun fall theme. Here’s a collage of my shots of them from…

Hoschton Scarecrow Record!
Well! Looks like the folks in my zipcode have done it! It’s not official but it will be soon that Hoschton has the Guiness Book of World records for the most scarecrows in one zipcode! To celebrate, I thought it would be fun to make a scarecrow soap! Now I’m a basics kind of soapmaker. I place herbs and essential oils in my regular ol’ wooden molds and then cut with a crinkle knife for the most part! I’ve not spent a lot of time with Melt and pour type soap making. I’ve made friends with some soapmakers that have it to an art form. If you don’t believe me,…

Thanks so much Donna Marie Coles Johnson for the shout out for Indie Business’ Indie Candy! I forgot to mention one slight tidbit of information to Donna Maria when I submitted my information. While I LOVE Alaska, Georgia is my home. I’d want land in both places! One down (Georgia) and one to go! Happy Washing! ~Regina

Organic products companies – Did you know?
This link was shared with me on twitter a few weeks ago. I found it very interesting. Sometimes when a company name is new, you tend to think it’s a fresh new start. Not always as evident from at the chart above. Having read The Big Green Purse and the theme of your dollars going to help the environment, does this information sort of water down the impact? It makes you wonder sometimes. Perhaps in some cases, the big companies that offer both regular products and organic products have the advantage of telling which products have the best profit margin and hopefully that will be the organic ones. (that’s what…

In Rememberance…9-11
Today is a day to remember in our Country’s history. I wish it had never happened. There are many events and actions after it that I wish had never happened. With all that said, we are on this path and we can’t go back and change the past. How do the events mold you? 9-11 was a tragic act of hate. And though I am human and falter, I will always want to respond with love. I have: Love of those that have had to carry on without loved ones, regardless of country Respect for our armed forces that continue to respond to keep us safe Faith that our world…
