Dialog on Facebook with Shopnear about buying locally…

Twitter has been a wonderful networking tool for me. If you want to see what I’m up to, click here.

Another user and myself took our connection on twitter to facebook.  “Shopnear” has a discussion list on an important topic: Why buy local?  (Click here to cut to the chase and see it)

She asked the question and this was my first answer:

-less $ spent on shipping
-more suited to your own nature…ie water that you drink would be similar water that is used on your food. much like hard or soft water.
-it just flat tastes better!
-if you eat on seasons, you are less likely to eat into monotony and need sweeter and sweeter foods to break that cycle. (shhh i know i’m sort of reaching but some of the best points are almost intangible.)
-you support your own local economy. The money you earn cycles in your own home town instead of ending up over seas for who only knows what.
-you support your own health by eating more fruits and vegetables instead of passing on the pale “wannabees” at the supermarket. (no wonder folks revolt against veggies when they taste that bad!)
– a sense of community when you know your $ are supporting people you know and trust

Those are just the ones off the top of my head 😀 ~Regina

If you keep reading the discussion, you’ll see that Shopnear spent time defining a portion of what I had trouble describing: Biodynamic.
What are YOUR thoughts? comments are always welcome.
Happy Washing!
